The Challenge

Text communication plays a crucial role in today's digital world. Many users find it difficult to come up with engaging conversation starters or express themselves effectively through text messages, leading to dull conversations, misunderstandings, and missed opportunities.

RizzIQ offers a comprehensive solution to improve users' text communication skills through a combination of cutting-edge AI technology and innovative features. The platform now focuses on three core features:

  1. Brainstorm: This feature generates 10 conversation starters or text ideas based on information about the person the user is texting. Brainstorm helps users initiate engaging conversations and keep them flowing effortlessly.
  2. Workshop: Workshop is a conversational AI that users can interact with to get help and ask questions about Rizz. The AI assists users in understanding the art of texting and offers guidance on how to improve their text game.
  3. Feedback: Feedback is a powerful tool that asks the user for information about the person they are texting, their objective, and what they are thinking about saying or trying to convey. Based on the user's input, Feedback generates four different results, each with varying levels of Rizz. This feature allows users to select the best response for their situation and achieve their communication goals.

Introduction

RizzIQ is an AI-powered text communication coach designed to help users improve their text-based communication skills by providing personalized feedback, conversation starters, and real-time assistance. By leveraging OpenAI's GPT-3.5 Turbo, RizzIQ offers a seamless and interactive experience for users seeking to enhance their texting abilities.

Identifying the Problem

In today's fast-paced digital world, text-based communication plays a vital role in personal and professional relationships. However, many individuals struggle to express themselves effectively in text messages, which can lead to miscommunication, confusion, and even strained relationships.

Our team conducted user research and found that people often face challenges in crafting engaging and impactful text messages. This insight led us to explore the potential of a text communication coach that could assist users in improving their texting skills.

Defining the Solution

With the goal of helping users unlock their authentic voice and improve their texting abilities, our team devised RizzIQ, a comprehensive solution focusing on three key features:

  1. Brainstorm: Generates 10 conversation starters or text ideas based on information about the person the user is texting.
  2. Workshop: A conversational AI that users can consult for help and ask questions about text communication.
  3. Feedback: Asks the user for information about the recipient, their objective, and their intended message, then generates four alternative responses with varying levels of impact (or "rizz").

User Interface and Experience Design

To ensure a user-friendly and engaging experience, our design process focused on creating a clean, intuitive interface that allowed users to easily access RizzIQ's features. We employed an iterative design process, gathering feedback from users at each stage to refine the interface and experience.

Brainstorm

We designed a simple form where users input information about their conversation partner, and in return, receive a list of 10 conversation starters or text ideas. The interface features a clean layout, with a focus on readability and easy navigation between suggestions.

Workshop

To create an interactive experience, we integrated GPT-3.5 Turbo to power the conversational AI. Users can type their questions or concerns directly into a chat-like interface, receiving instant, contextually relevant advice from the AI assistant.

Feedback

For the Feedback feature, we designed a form that prompts users to provide information about their conversation's context and their initial message idea. The interface then displays four alternative responses, each with a different level of impact, allowing users to choose the most suitable option.

Implementation and Integration of GPT-3.5 Turbo: Prompt Injection and One-Shot Learning for AI Personas and Directives

To provide personalized and context-aware suggestions, our team utilized GPT-3.5 Turbo, integrating it into the Workshop and Feedback features. GPT-3.5 Turbo's advanced natural language processing capabilities allowed us to offer users tailored advice and recommendations, improving the overall effectiveness of RizzIQ.

Identifying the Need for AI Personas and Directives

As we developed RizzIQ, we recognized the importance of creating distinct AI personas and directives for each product feature to ensure consistency and effectiveness in our AI-powered recommendations. By utilizing "prompt injection" and "one-shot learning," we aimed to establish specific guidelines for our AI, allowing it to generate more relevant and engaging responses for our users.

The Process of Developing AI Personas and Directives

To develop AI personas and directives, we leveraged the power of GPT-4 and an interactive design process. We started by creating a set of prompts for each product feature, outlining the desired outcome and defining the AI's role.

For example, the Feedback feature's prompt injection is:

You are RizzIQ, an AI text communications coach that will help users become more charismatic and charming in their text conversations.

This prompt sets the foundation for the AI's persona and directive, guiding it to focus on helping users improve their text communication skills.

Next, we defined the specific directives for each feature, ensuring that the AI understood the context, goals, and desired output. For the Feedback feature, we provided directives as follows:

  1. Guide users in understanding and adapting to the roles of givers and takers in conversations.
  2. Create and utilize conversational affordances or 'doorknobs.'
  3. Encourage meaningful and intimate discussions.

By injecting these directives into the AI prompt, we ensured that GPT-4 understood the desired outcome and tailored its responses accordingly.

Utilizing One-Shot Learning

One-shot learning is a powerful method to train the AI with minimal input. By providing a single example of the desired output, we allowed GPT-4 to generalize and adapt its responses to various user inputs.

For the Feedback feature, we incorporated one-shot learning by providing an example prompt:

First, offer some advice to the user before they send their text based on the information provided about who the user is texting: [Who are you texting? (Age, Personality, Interests, Hobbies, Recent Activities)].Second, give some feedback based on how the user answered: [What do you want to say? or What are you thinking of saying?]Finally, offer 4 potential texts for the user to send for mild 🌞), medium 🌶️, hot 🔥, and extreme 💥. Each potential text should increase its level of flirtation and directness. The extreme version should be outlandish and irreverent in the style of Scott Galloway. Make it extra funny and frat-like.

This example demonstrates the expected structure and format for the AI-generated responses, allowing GPT-4 to learn and generate similar responses for various user inputs.

By leveraging prompt injection, one-shot learning, and an interactive design process with GPT-4, we successfully developed AI personas and directives for each RizzIQ feature. This approach ensures the AI's responses are consistent, engaging, and tailored to the user's needs, ultimately enhancing the overall user experience.

User Testing and Validation

Throughout the development process, we conducted multiple rounds of user testing to gather feedback and validate our solution. Users praised the simplicity and effectiveness of the Brainstorm feature, appreciated the interactivity of the Workshop, and found the Feedback feature invaluable for refining their messages.
